As the potential dangers of contamination were brought to the forefront of the water and sanitation sector, emphasis was placed on the need to conduct testing so as to ensure clean drinking water. This project involved water quality testing of 200 water samples for arsenic contamination. Awareness-raising techniques were also implemented with a target audience of 6000 people, as the need for education is vital to the issue. IDS Nepal also conducted knowledge transfer of field-based testing to members of local NGOs so they could continue the testing on their own in the future.
