The Government of Nepal endeavoured, inter alia, to access financial resources for adaptation to climate change. Nepal is highly vulnerable to climate change, and there was a strong realization that Nepal needed more effective and strategic engagement in the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) negotiations.

Funded by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), the project facilitated greater coordination among relevant Ministries in the Government of Nepal and concerned stakeholders in the preparation and follow-up to the UNFCCC negotiations. By strengthening the capacity of the delegation of Nepal, the country was able to participate in negotiations in an informed and effective manner.

To do so, the project provided logistic support to three to five delegates to COP 17 and COP 18, produced policy briefs, and organized inter-ministerial and inter-agency meetings and workshops.
