The aim of this project was to raise awareness amongst Nepali youth about water, sanitation and the need for hygiene. The project involved the rehabilitation and upgrading of 45 tube wells, the construction of simple incinerators, and the completion of 108 tests for contamination of arsenic and other pollutants. Moreover, IDS Nepal facilitated six community villages in reaching an Open Defecation Free (ODF) status.

As education played an important role in the project, there were Health Hygiene and Sanitation sessions carried out throughout the year in five different schools, as well as 29 Water Management Training courses to water user groups (total of 261). It was calculated that 450 households and a population of 2700 have benefited from the project.
