As the potential dangers of contamination were brought to the forefront of the water and sanitation sector, emphasis was placed on the need to conduct testing so as to ensure clean drinking water.
The project first involved the selection of water sample sources according to specific source and sample collection points throughout the Doti and Baitadi districts. The samples were later analyzed through microbiological testing. Potential factors for contamination were identified and their relationship to contamination was assessed. Follow-up and proactive measures for the protection and treatment of drinking water were also identified. IDS Nepal conducted knowledge transfer of field-based testing to members of local NGOs so they could continue the testing on their own in the future.
