The aim of this project was to successfully grant five community villages with an Open Defecation Free (ODF) status. The Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) approach was used and CLTS-related activities were held in three communities. The project also involved the construction of community bathrooms, simple incinerators and school gardens in Plan Nepal working communities.

This phase of the project involved the installation of 43 tube wells, the rehabilitation and upgrading of 50 tube wells, and the construction of 685 family latrines, 20 latrines at Early Child Care Development (ECCD) centres, and 4 school latrines. There was also the construction of 3 incinerators for waste disposal systems.

There was also water management training, and school activities focused on Health Hygiene and Sanitation (ex. an art competition, a quiz, etc.). As well, there was water quality testing for arsenic contamination using 1000 samples.
