Start Date: October 21, 2013
End Date: October 20, 2014
Location: Bhaktapur
Donor: UNDP
Budget: US$ 36,540

This pilot project is being implemented in one vulnerable school in Bhaktapur district and aims to increase access to safe water and improve knowledge on climate change resilience.

IDS Nepal will facilitate the construction of 2 rainwater-harvesting jars (20,000 litres) and a water conservation pond (50,000 litres), as well as proper waste management. In addition, IDS Nepal will train teachers in forming ecoclubs, in which students will learn about climate resilience and develop a greenery with at least 100 saplings that will be maintained by the ecoclub. Following project completion, it is expected that at least 200 schoolchildren will have increased access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities and practice proper waste management at school and home.
