Open Defecation Free (ODF) Campaign and Sanitation and Hygiene Behavioural Promotion in Bardiya District SGL-19

The overall objective of ODF campaign is to ensure people's access to improved sanitation facilities and to promote more hygienic practices in daily living. Through the processes of capacity building, community mobilization, mass sensitization and institutional strengthening, we can improve the overall health conditions of the communities. The campaign is conducted through the effective mobilization of schools, institutions, and communities with the inclusion of poor and socially disadvantaged communities. 

Of the 31 Village District Committees (VDCs) in the Bardiya district, IDS Nepal has been working in every single one. It is with this tenacity that IDS Nepal aims to declare Bardiya district as first “Open Defecation Free” district in the terai region.
